Eat Cook Joy charges a flat chef fee per session — $95 for a 90-minute dinner prep (1 main + 1 side), $115 for a 150-minute meal prep (2 mains + 2 sides), or $165 for a 3.5-hour standard meal prep (3–4 mains + 2–3 sides). How it works

Four steps, zero stress.

Designed to feel like booking a friend who happens to be a great cook — not assembling IKEA furniture.

01

Tell us who's eating

Households or offices: how many people, dietary needs, cuisines you love.

02

Match with a chef

We pair you with a vetted local chef whose style fits your taste, schedule, and budget.

03

Pick your meals

Choose specific dishes or hand it to the chef. Groceries handled by chef, partner, or you.

04

Eat. Save the leftovers.

Your chef cooks in your kitchen. Walks out clean. You pull out plates all week.

Before your session

A few things to line up first.

For now, an Eat Cook Joy admin will start a group chat with you and your chef so everyone's on the same page before the session. Here's what to expect.

01

Choose your dishes and preferences

Pick your dishes, flag any allergies or preferences, and add a quick note for your chef. They'll show up knowing exactly what you want.

02

Mark off pantry ingredients

If you already have something at home, mark it off your grocery list. We won't double-buy.

03

Decide who handles groceries

Buy them yourself, have them delivered, or ask your chef to shop on the way in. If your chef shops, that's charged as an additional hour of chef time.

04

Have containers ready

Set out enough containers for your prepared meals. Short on containers? Your chef can grab some on the way in.

For households

One flat price, no surprise math at the end.

Three standardized meal-prep tiers, flat chef fee per session, and you choose up to 6 portions per dish. Groceries are billed separately at cost. If you need the chef to shop, that's charged as one additional hour of chef time. Hosting an event? That's a separate custom proposal.

Things people ask

What is Eat Cook Joy, exactly?

Think of us as a cooking assistant for your home. We help you plan your meals, keep track of what's already in your kitchen, and bring in a real local chef to cook the dishes you actually want to eat, on your schedule. The planning, the pantry, the chef coordination, we take it off your plate so dinner just shows up.

How is this different from a meal kit or delivery service?

Meal kits hand you a box of ingredients and a long list of chopping to do. Delivery apps drop off whatever a restaurant felt like making. We're the in-between: a real chef cooks fresh meals in your kitchen, using what we already know you have on hand. You get restaurant-quality dinners, leftovers for the week, and a kitchen that quietly stays organized.

Do I need to provide groceries?

Whatever's easiest for you. Buy the groceries yourself, have them delivered before the chef arrives, or ask your chef to shop on the way in. If your chef shops, that's charged as an additional hour of chef time. We also keep an eye on what's already in your kitchen so the grocery list stays lean. You can set a budget as a guide, though final costs vary a bit depending on dishes, servings, and ingredient prices.

Can you help me manage my kitchen inventory?

Yes, this is one of our favorite parts. Before each session you can mark off ingredients you already have at home, and we keep a light running list of your pantry so we don't double-buy. Over time, your grocery lists get smarter, your spending stays steadier, and your fridge stops filling up with three half-jars of the same thing.

Do I need containers?

Yes please. Have enough containers ready for your prepared meals. If you're short, your chef can grab some on the way in.

Will I talk to my chef before the session?

Yes. For now, an Eat Cook Joy admin will start a group chat with you and your chef ahead of the session, so everyone's on the same page before anyone picks up a knife.

Does the chef clean up?

Yes. Your chef cooks in your kitchen, portions and stores the food, and leaves the kitchen cleaner than they found it.

Can I rebook the same chef?

Of course. Once you find a chef whose cooking your family loves, you can lock in a recurring schedule. We hold on to your menu preferences, dietary rules, and pantry between sessions, so each one picks up right where the last one left off.

What if I have allergies or strict dietary needs?

Your dietary profile lives with us, so you don't have to repeat yourself. Gluten-free, dairy-free, halal, kosher, plant-based, low-FODMAP. Tell us once and we'll route every menu through it, and pair you with chefs who cook for it daily.

How does pricing work for events & offices?

Flat per-person rate quoted up front based on menu and headcount. Recurring office programs get tiered pricing. No hidden service fees, no surprise math at the end.

When does the Bay Area pilot start?

We're running a 4-week beta in San Francisco right now, aiming for 5 chefs and 20 sessions. We'll roll through the rest of the Bay Area in waves from there.

For chefs
I'm a chef. How do I apply?

Click "Apply to join the pilot" up top. It takes about 10 minutes, and we read every application personally. You'll hear back from us within a week.

How does a chef session work?

Once you're matched, you'll review the client's selected recipes, allergies, preferences, servings, and session notes before the booking, so you walk in knowing exactly what they want.

Will I be in touch with the client before the session?

Yes. You'll be added to a group chat with the client and an Eat Cook Joy admin to lock in the details before the session.

Will I have to grocery shop?

Sometimes. If the client picks chef grocery shopping, you'll get a heads up before the session and be compensated for the extra shopping time.

What am I expected to do during a session?

Cook the selected dishes, portion and store the food properly, clean up the kitchen, and stick to the client's allergies, preferences, and notes.

How do I close out a session?

When you're done cooking, snap a few photos of the finished food and send them over to your Eat Cook Joy admin.

When do chefs get paid?

Payment lands within 48 business hours of the session being closed out.
