how it works

four steps. zero stress.

We took the parts of hiring a chef that felt fancy and scary, and replaced them with a flow that feels closer to ordering takeout.

01

pick your night

Tell us when, how many seats, and the vibe — birthday, date night, just-because Tuesday.

02

choose a menu

Browse this week’s menus from chefs near you. Swap dishes, flag allergies, lock it in.

03

we shop & prep

Your chef sources groceries, preps mise en place, and shows up with everything they need.

04

you eat. we clean.

Sit down, pour the wine, enjoy the meal. The kitchen leaves cleaner than we found it.

pricing, plainly

what eaters keep
telling us.

I budgeted for one anniversary dinner. We now do this twice a month. The math is somehow… cheaper than going out.
Priya R. · Brooklyn, NY
Our chef walked in with two grocery bags and walked out with my whole family in love with him. Spotless kitchen too.
Marcus L. · Oakland, CA
I have a kid with three allergies. Booking dinner used to feel like filing taxes. eatcookjoy made it… fun?

How is this cheaper than a normal private chef?+

Traditional chefs build in sourcing, planning, and admin per-event — and pass it on. We pool weekly menus across many homes, so chefs cook what they’ve already shopped and prepped for. Same quality, way less overhead.

Do you bring the groceries?+

Yep. Your chef sources everything fresh the morning of, brings it in, and cooks in your kitchen. You don’t lift a finger — unless it’s to refill the wine.

What if I have allergies or picky eaters?+

Tell us when you book. Every menu can be swapped for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, or nut-free. We confirm with the chef before they start prep.

Will I be left with a destroyed kitchen?+

Never. Cleanup is part of the price — counters wiped, dishes done, trash out. The kitchen leaves cleaner than we found it.

How far in advance do I need to book?+

Most weeknights are bookable 48 hours ahead. Weekends and special menus go faster — we recommend a week if you can.

Where are you available?+

We’re live in NYC, the Bay Area, LA, Chicago, and Austin — with new cities opening monthly. Drop your zip and we’ll tell you when we land.
